Policy Term 12 months
Effective Date The Effective Date will be listed on the Declarations Page of your policy after you apply and are accepted.
Enrollment Age Dogs: 8 weeks
Cats: 9 weeks
Cancellation Policy Ask for a current copy of their insurance policy so that you may review their cancellation policy
Waiting Period 14 day waiting period for illnesses.

3 day waiting period for injuries.

Intervertebral Disc Disease and Cruciate Ligament related conditions have a 180 day waiting period.

There are additional waiting periods for certain conditions covered under the InheritedPlus addon.
Waiting Period for Cruciate Injury Cruciate Ligament related conditions have a 180 day waiting period.

For Cruciate Ligament related conditions, there is a "...$2,000 reimbursement lifetime limit for treatment/diagnostics for each leg. ...This includes any associated meniscal injury or another condition secondary to cruciate ligament injury."
Coverage When Travel Out of State or Country? Out of State Coverage - You WILL be covered while traveling to other states with your pet.

Out of Country Coverage - You WILL be covered when traveling to Canada with your pet.
Can the Price of the Policy Increase as my Pet Ages? Yes, the policy premium can increase as your pet ages. The premium may also increase due to inflation or other reasons.

According to their sample policy on their website, a pre-existing condition is "…any illness or injury which occurred, reoccurred, existed, or showed symptoms whether or not diagnosed by a veterinarian, prior to the original effective date of the policy or during the waiting period."

Hereditary & Congenital Conditions Coverage [OPTIONAL]

To get hereditary and congenital coverage, you must purchase the InheritedPlus addon.

Continual Coverage for Chronic Conditions Coverage will continue at renewal up to the per incident limit.
Chronic Conditions Policy They do not cover the following conditions unless you purchase the InheritedPlus addon:
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Diabetes Insipidus
  • Diabetes Mellitus
  • Spondylosis
  • Luxating Patella

Cancer Coverage [INCLUDED] Cancer conditions are covered if they are not pre-existing and have not occurred during the waiting period.

Cancers that are considered to be hereditary or genetic may not be covered unless you purchase the InheritedPlus addon.

How is Reimbursement Determined CUSTOMER REP: If they feel the fees are high compared to what is being charged in your area, they will use UCR. Otherwise reimbursement is based on the actual veterinary bill.
